Pizzamano fecit. An artist from the Ionian Islands at the dawn of a new age

Exhibition

A great yet unknown architect and painter of the early 19th century is presented for the first time in the National Historical Museum's exhibition at the Old Parliament Hall, from 8 March to 31 July 2019.
Gerasimos Pitsamanos (Argostoli 1787 - Corfu 1825) lived a life resembling a hero from a novel, at the dawn of a new age, working for the progress and freedom of Greece and the Ionian islands. His testimony, through his art and writings, is valuable.
The National Historical Museum (NHM) presents the whole of his known work through more than 100 paintings, architectural and engravings. The collection of the Museum is complemented by other well-known works, which are preserved in the National Gallery-Museum of Alexandros Skoutos and in the hands of private individuals.
